ACP secures the transaction. It does not prove the purchase.

PP-SPEC-102 maps every control in the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP, maintained by OpenAI and Stripe) against proof of efficacy: proof that a product under pressure, does what the vendor says it does. It inventories 14 ACP controls, states 11 gaps where ACP falls short, maps each gap to Proof Protocol efficacy methods, and defines 16 arena tests (ACP-T01 to ACP-T16). The largest gap is in what is being bought: product claims in ACP feeds are written by the seller, and ACP has no field that can carry proof of them.

How it works

  1. Inventory. Every ACP control at version 2026-04-17 and unreleased/, with its normative strength and what it actually establishes (SPEC Section 3).
  2. Gaps. Eleven falsifiable shortfalls, G1 to G11. The largest: product claims in feeds are marketing, with no way to attach proof (G11); the delegated payment allowance bounds amount, merchant and time, not what is bought; untrusted product feeds and merchant markdown flow straight into agent reasoning; almost every trust signal is self-attested (Section 4).
  3. Methods. Each gap mapped to the Proof Protocol method that closes it (Section 5).
  4. Tests. Sixteen arena tests, each producing Units of Proof (Section 6).
  5. Interface. The gaps are closed from outside ACP by PP-SPEC-103, an ACP extension (Section 8).
